When I was little, I was obsessed with this episode because I got a scar on my left wrist and I spent weeks searching for a grown up with the same scar, looking for a future me.
My garden here is still not as pretty as the lovely walled one I had at home, but I worked very hard on it this summer and this makes me feel nice. Two deer came by the very day the sign arrived.
On January 18, I, along with Wikipedia, reddit and many others, participated in the biggest online protest in history.
Don’t just sit there. Do something.
I don’t believe in the death penalty. However, some American states do. Their laws state that people can be executed if there is no reasonable doubt of their guilt. No reasonable doubt means it’s legal. Any reasonable doubt means it’s murder.
Troy Davis is set to be executed on 21 September. The case was built on witness testimony. Of the nine witnesses, seven have recanted. One who hasn’t admits carrying a gun similar to the one used in the crime and was identified as the shooter by another witness. There is no physical evidence implicating Troy Davis as the killer.
A police officer who was helping a homeless man was shot and killed. This is a crime, it’s a murder, and it was a tragedy. The state of Georgia killing a man whose guilt is in question is also a crime, also murder, and also a tragedy.
I won’t feel safer if Troy Davis is executed. No one should. No one is safe when the state commits murder.
